Are you leaving residence in May?
To terminate your agreement, you must find someone eligible to replace you. To proceed:

First you must submit a Termination Request.
The deadline to submit the request for termination on April 30 is March 31. - Post an ad for your room on the Student Housing Billboard. Beware of scams.
- Set up a meeting where the student who takes over your room will meet the co-residents who will be living there with him or her. Obtain their signature and bring the meeting confirmation form back to the HS office.
- Ask your replacement to specifically request your unit/room when submitting the Residence Application. He or she will be contacted when the “Offer of Accommodation and Residence Agreement” is ready to be signed. A $700 reservation deposit will be required at that time. (No personal cheques accepted.)
- Only when the agreement has been signed and the deposit has been paid will the Housing Officer confirm the termination of your residence agreement. Administrative fees apply. Until you receive the written confirmation, you are responsible for your room and must pay the residence fees. Please return your keys to HS for the new resident by the confirmed termination date.
Summer Sublet
If you are responsible for a room from May to August, you may sublet it if you are not staying for the summer months. If you do so, you will have to pay the residence fees as usual and your occupant must pay you directly. Ask for a deposit as you remain responsible for the room and the common areas of the unit. Your roommates will need to be informed, so tell them about your intentions and keep them posted. Make sure they also sign the sublet agreement in the section reserved for their signature, and that a completed copy of the sublet agreement is returned to HS for proper registration of your occupant. Your occupant must be able to prove that he or she is registered at a post-secondary institution with a valid student photo ID. Ineligible or unregistered occupants can be denied access. Please note that all summer sublets begin no sooner than May 1, 2012 and end on August 30, 2012.

- Housing Service must receive a copy of the completed sublet agreement for verification of eligibility and registration of your occupant. Ineligible or unregistered occupants can be denied access.
- You must return your keys and access card to HS when you leave. Do not pass them on to your occupant directly. New cards are required during the summer months. Your occupant will have to drop by the service desk anyway.
Renewal (Sept. 2012 – August 2013)
Note: to stay in residence beyond August 31 you must request and obtain a new residence agreement.
