Where can I do my laundry?

  • 90U and Hyman Soloway: on the 1st floor.
  • Stanton and Thompson:  on every floor.
  • Brooks, LeBlanc and Marchand: in the basement.

What do I need to know?

  • You’ll find washers and dryers in every laundry facility.
  • You pay for the use of the machines by means of a re-loadable laundry card.
  • You buy a card for $5 and you load or reload it at one of the reload centres in residence.

Tip:

  • Remember not to leave your articles in the machines once your load is done; the University is not responsible for any stolen or lost articles.

For repair, contact Coin-O-Matic at (613) 738-1110

Most Frequently Asked Laundry Card Questions

Q. What is a Laundry Card and where can I purchase one?
A. Your Laundry Card costs $5. It is a "Smart Card", containing a computer chip that allows cash to be stored as electronic value. This is now the only way for you to do your laundry. Call 1-800-561-1972 when the dispenser is empty.

Q. Can I use the laundry card for anything other than laundry?
A. Today, the card is only used for laundry. In the future, it may be used for much more.

Q. How do I store my laundry Card?
A. Carefully, in a place where you will not lose it. It is safe to keep your card in your wallet or purse.

Q. What happens if I lose, misplace, or need an additional laundry card?
A. Additional or replacement cards can be purchased from the card dispensing machine. Locations.

Q. What is a Card Reload Centre?
A. The Card Reload Centre is where you add value to your Laundry Card. You will need your Laundry Card and a Canadian $10 or $20 bill or a credit card. Locations.

Q. Can I get change from the Card Reload Centre?
A. No. Card Reload Centres can read, but not dispense currency.

Q. How do I add value to my Laundry Card?
A. This is done at your Card Reload Centre. Fully insert your card in the card slot. The display will indicate the value remaining on the card. Place either a Canadian $10 or $20 bill in the bill slot to transfer value onto your card. The machine will instruct you to remove the card and then you are ready to do your laundry!

Q. Can I obtain a refund for value remaining on a lost or stolen laundry card?
A. No. For consumer privacy reasons, we do not track usage of the cards and cannot refund value on lost, stolen, or returned cards.

Q. What happens if I don't have sufficient funds on my Laundry Card when I do my washing?
A. When you insert your card into a washer, dryer, or Card Reload Centre, the value remaining on your card will be displayed. If the value remaining is less than you need, you will have to add more value to your card at the Card Reload Centre. The laundry machines will not accept coins or currency.

Q. What happens with any value remaining on the laundry card if I move from the building?
A. Unfortunately there are no refunds available from Coinamatic on the unused value remaining on a card.

Q. What do I do if my Laundry Card does not work in the Card Reload Centre, Washer, or
Dryer?

A. We know that some day, even the most reliable equipment can let us down. Please try your card in another machine to see if the problem is with your card or the machine. Make sure you're not removing your card from the Card Reader before the transaction is complete, then note the machine number and call us at 1-800- 561-1972 to report the problem. We'll be happy to reimburse you!
